can use my database but can't add or change anything

used 2.0 to set up a simple database to print off flashcards for a class I'm taking. Simple table, just two fields, a primary key and the text for the card, a simple form to input data, a simple query to base the report on so I can choose what range of cards to send to the report to print. For some reason I can load the database, I can use the form to add data, and can run the report to print from, but all the wizards have gone dead. I can't create a new report, table or query, and can't alter the original query the report was based on to change the records going to the report. Am I missing someing? Break something? I know next to nothing about databases, and hoped to use 2.0 to learn a bit.
