Since David was so vehement I reworked this post and deleted the others. ::Sheesh::

Anyway back to the issue at hand.

I don't have much spare time so would prefer to start this off right. Therefore I am asking for advice as to which OpenOffice application to use for this project. And following a less then stellar experience on another forum I'm hoping for more useful advice here. Crying or Very sad

I am organizing a new host site for SHARE Iowa (Note: this is not a web site but a local coordinatation and distribuation site). A non-profit food cooperative which encourages volunteerism. I want to create electronic copies of the host site forms we recieve from the central office. My goal is to print out forms and keep an electronic record to make it easier developing year end reports for the site and for individuals.

My orginal plan was to use Calc for each form so each tab could refer to another month. But I've run into my knowledge limit on spreadsheets. Also I began to question whether Calc is the best choice. Ideally I'd like to create a record for each volunteer which could be compiled into a single monthly report and a monthly food order. The more I think about this the more difficult and complex it seems.

After reflection Base would seem ideal only-------well I just don't understand Base, also it is not stable enough yet. Would intelligent forms created in Writer be better or should I stick with Calc?

Advice is eagerly awaited.

Norman

For the record I am not associated with SHAREIowa other than working on a disbribution site in Crieghton, Nebraska. If you are curious. This link http://www.shareiowa.com/Forms.htm will take you to html or pdf copies of the forms I recieve.

Some of you will see similar posts on other forums, that is because I'm uncertain which group to turn to for help so I'm asking everyone. Embarassed

Sorry, but this DEFINITELY comes under my definition of SPAM. Before anyone starts frowning, let's consider the volunteer aspect as described in the following extract:
Quote:
You can save up to 50% on food by purchasing your groceries from SHARE. What is the catch? We ask that you volunteer 2 hours of your time and talents toward a good cause.

At the outset, there is nothing here at all, other than mention of the three OOo program names, that has anything to do with a real request here for assistance with any particular one of them.

First of all, when I volunteeer for anything [and I do], I don't expect to get 50% off anything. It's volunteering for a just cause. Period.

Secondly, when someone has to say, "Where's the catch?", there is one. The catch here is subtle. You are being told you can buy your groceries with a saving. I didn't check where you must or must not make your purchases. The "volunteering" is something you can do very well by yourself. In fact, the information is minimal.

So, if you want to volunteer, do so. I do. Period.

Unfortunately, I can't be bothered writing to all three spammed forums, so
I'll leave that to agreement or not, but please don't continue this thread here. Sorry to appear to be pessimistic, but "If it seems to be too good to be true, then it usually is."

An option: Repost your request with no link to the site. Repost with some effort by you being made to accomplish something in particular ...a form, database, spreadsheet, ..., and I for one will volunteer to try to answer it as best I can.

David.
