G'day
I'm trying to make a report for my database which has this sort of layout.
http://oooreport.sourceforge.net/columnar.php
I have a filthy number of fields (not my database), and this report's going to assist someone verify the data, so it needs room for notes and the like.
The Report wizard in Base seems to only be capable of giving a tabular layout, and I'm not quite 100% on how to do the equivalent of a mail merge with no page breaks.
Any suggestions?
(I'm reluctant to try the Autopilot available for download on the above page as it looks like it's for version 1.1) _________________ Josh Bush

I seem to be having some success be selecting all records in the data sources window within writer and using the Data to Text option.
Unfortunately, some of the the text I enter as a template seems to get corrupted/lost
eg: I enter this
| Quote: | Contact Number: <contact_no>
Employee Code: <employee_code> See Reference Sheet
Lead Source: <lead_source> See Reference Sheet
Status: <status> CURRENT | OLD
Became Contact: <became_contact>
Motivation: <motivation> 1 | 2 | 3
NAME
First Name: <given_name>
Last Name: <surname>
Initials: <initials>
Letter Name: <letter_name>
Attention: <attention> |
And I get this out
| Quote: | Contact Number: 0
Employee Code: JAB See Reference Shee
Lead Source: OTHER See Reference Shee
Status: CURRENT CURRENT | OL
Became Contact: 07/10/05
Motivation: 0 1 | 2 |
NAME
First
NAME
First Name:
First Name: Josh
Last Name: Bush
Initials:
Letter Name:
Attention: |
There's no data for some of the fields above, but if we look at the "First Name" field for example, the word "First" is fine, but "NAME" is capitalised and thrown onto the next line.
My usage comments all seem to have the last character take off them.
I am using tabs (which don't show on here), could that be the source of my problem?
Edit: Removed the tabs. Didn't make a difference. _________________ Josh Bush

Turns out it's the blank lines I was using for spacing, with the effects being more pronounced if there were characters after the field on the previous line.
Sounds like a bug to me. _________________ Josh Bush
