Short remark: Now, AODC offer also support for documents in the
OpenDocument spreadsheet format. See last posting on this
thread. LarsB, Feb. 08 2006
Hi all,
AODC is an free (GPL) OpenDocument Converter.
The goal of AODC is to give Windows User the
possibility read and edit files in the OpenDocumt
textformat as they produced by the OpenOffice
writer, even if they don't have OpenOffice installed.
Due to the help and suggestions of the forum
user in the Macro and Api forum the application
is stable enough to test it with a large amount
of user. I hope you will help me to optimize
the application by trying it out with your
documents. User from the Macro and Api
forum and I already tested the application with a lot
of different documents, which contain a large
amount of different content. But I could not
test again everey content that is possible in
a writer document. So your feedback will be
very helpfull for me, to see where something
maybe not work correct.
Up to now, the only possible output format is
HTML. Which is optimized to be displayed in
all popular browser and Microsoft Word >= 2002.
I choosed HTML as first of supported output
format, because every user, even they didn't
have Word should have the possibility to read
and edit the files. If the application is stable
enough I plan to add other output formats.
I hope you will excuse me that I set this posting
to be sticky! So, forum user which didn't
come every day or are new could also help me
in the future.
Thanks in advance for your help !

Hi all,
one of the forum user BillyBoy found a bug in AODC.
Under some circumstances. The text document won't
be converted if the graphics inside the document are
define their height and width in inch. I just fix this and will
if all other tests are successful release the bugfix
release tomorrow evening. Sorry for that bug
All current user could use the Check for Upate
feature Help->Check for Update to determine if the
update is available. At least I will post in here if the
new version is available.
Any feedback is welcome. Thanks in advance!
Cheers

Hi LarsB,
Just a word about the GUI size.
With Windows XP we may have terribly long paths, like this:
C:\Documents and Settings\Tulajdonos\Dokumentumok\BudapestiUjsag\Cikkek-Budapesti---------------\S-1117-Erdesz-Szentendre-Bartl
which is 17 cms for me on screen (1 cm less if I omit the hyphens).
So it needs resize. It could be very convenient if the new size is kept between sessions. Can you perhaps implement this feature in some further release?
(I hope you will get more relevant suggestions as well.
Cheers,
Gabor |

Hi Gabor,
thanks for that nice suggestion. I will add a feature
which let the application store it's lates Gui settings
Nonetheless, the Gui is resizable in both horizontal
an vertical. Just use the mouse and resize the Gui
to your need.
Thanks and cheers

Hi all,
a new release of AODC is available. It will fix the bugs
that found by the forum user BillyBoy. All user even,
if they don't have an error until now, should update

feature to check if your version is up to date. As new
feature - AODC now could be started with the gui setting
as it was closed last time. You can activate this feature
in the appliction preferences.
@BillyBoy

Hi all,
a new version of AODC is available. From now on, AODC also support "batch" conversion. Simply switch to the "Batch" mode and convert more then one file at the same time. Also you can reference OpenDocument text documents with AODC or create a "Convert with AODC" entry in the context menu of the Windows Explorer. More info and download: http://aodc.opendocument4all.com
Here a little screenshot that show AODC running in the "Batch" mode:
Any feedback is welcome
Cheers

Theanks for this great program.
I have some questions:
-Is possible to make an simple .ODT viewer with multiplatform support? I think support for win32, Linux, MAC OS, Palm, Pocket PC? I want to read my .ODT documents in all platforms. For PDF files we have support everywere. Now is disponibles readers for PDF files in Palm OS! So, why not for ODT files?
-An plugin for Firefox and Opera to save the HTML pages in ODT ones?
Theanks in advice |

Hi,
first thanks for your nice reply:) Yes this would be possible, but first I'm going to implement some other features which have a higher priority like. Currently I'm working at the spreadsheet implementation. I hope to release the spreadsheet implementation in the early february 2006. At least, a PDF export feature will come, but couldn't say definitly when.
Cheers

Hi,
the last months I spent houndreds of hours on the underlying AODL library (An OpenDocument Library) which is the converter for AODC and I hope that it comes the point where I could say: "Yes, it's all done! .. and the OpenDocument format is completely supported."
I know it wouldn't help you with your problem, but the support for the Spreadsheet documents is in a development state which could be published and I guess that I could keep my promise to publish it within the next 2 weeks.
Cheers
