Hello,
From a Using UNO's Xml sax parser via the API topic's post we can read :
I wonder if anyone is aware of solutions that would allow us to organize the vast amount of information here at OOoForum. I'm thinking about phpBB MODs as this website is powered by that script, document managers, knowledge managers... The general idea would be to find a solution to manage the OOoForumAnswers.txt document.
I think that finding such a solution would greatly improve the global quality of this community. The solution could even be independant from this community, like the text document is, it could be presented as a simple FAQ where all Q&A would be organized by categories. We could just keep to simplicity to make the information more accessible.
So all help is warm welcome.

A search engine that allows you to search for phrases (i.e. a literal text string enclosed by quotes) would help a lot.
The current search engine doesn't allow for that, but the Google search engine does. Perhaps it can be set up for this forum. |

It would really help.
Going through a meber list with 467 pages does not make any practical sense.
You should be able to select at least the first letter of the name.
Even our (Nedap power supplies) internal telephone lis on the internet has that possibility.
Also wild cards are common in very old computer applications, like the one running in our AS400 system for many years _________________ Gerben Hoeksma |

Hum... I don't really understand your need as I never really had to browse the members list. Why do you need that for ?

The search engine allow us to search both for keywords and authors. It even supports some cool features like basic binary operators (AND, OR...) and the * you mention for partial matches. The search form is self-documented. _________________ An OOo mascot designer |

I agree that such a feature would be useful but the "Search for all terms" feature is a nice one too. It's even more powerful as it allows you to find resources that wouldn't match if you were searching for "phrases". It's also important to note that this is a technical limitation because the search engine references keywords, not "phrases". For example if you create a topic with the "Hello my name is Mr OpenOffice", then the search engine will reference keywords like "Hello", "name" and "OpenOffice". That's why it can't find "phrases", because it doesn't even know there are words like "my", "is" and "Mr" in the topic you created. It makes the matching process very efficient because the search engine uses a dictionary to reference its keywords. When you search for "all terms", it exactly knows where to find them, thanks to its dictionary where keywords are implicitely related to topics. _________________ An OOo mascot designer |

Sime kind of bookmark feature would be great.
I have started making a post with a code word in it that I can search for when I want to go back to a certain post. |
