Would it be possible to change the e-mail button settings?
On another phpBB forum, that I am a member of, the e-mail button doesn't display your e-mail address when you hover your mouse pointer over it.
I have no problem with forum members e-mailing me (why they might want to ). But I'm not keen on any spammers being able to lift my e-mail address from an open forum, free and easy. _________________ Simon |

| Edit your profile and make sure that the 'Always show my email address' under Preferences is set to 'NO' |

Sorry, I was away in Europe for a few weeks, working and forgot all about this post .
I knew about that option cwchia, in fact I think I had already done it.
I wanted to leave the e-mail option open, but not for it to display my e-mail address, when hovering the mouse pointer over the button. _________________ Simon |

| Though I have played with phpBB for a little while, I am not aware that it can be done that way. Maybe the Forum Master can look into this request? |

It is. I'm a member of several forums and on many of them, I can have e-mail available on the e-mail button, without it showing my e-mail address when hovering the mouse pointer over the button. The downside, I think, is that any e-mails sent using this set-up go through the sites servers. I assume that an e-mail sent this way, is initially addressed to the server with some additional notes in the address. The software in the server then forwards my e-mails on to me. The return address on these e-mails, is the site address.
I realise that this is all rather vague, I'm a truck driver with an active interest, but no formal training, so I don't really know what I'm talking about .
(If I'm talking rubbish, tell me, but please explain why it's rubbish) _________________ Simon |
