If I try to open password protected excel document in open office it is opening. Thanks to the version 2.0 . Bat after this if I try to save the same in open office using as .xls as the file attachment, I am getting the message "Password protection is not supported when documents are saved in Microsoft office format.Do you want to save the document without password protection? "
Is there any way to solve this?

Issolla,
So your problem is you want to save with password protection in the Microsoft Excel format? Well, as OpenOffice.org tells you, it is not currently possible, so you will have to try something else. For example, perhaps you can save with a password in OpenDocument Spreadsheet format. Another solution would be to save without a password in Microsoft Excel; then ZIP the Excel file with a ZIP password. |

I am not at all convinced by the idea of password protected files. Operating systems are designed to separate users effectively by means of permissions, and that is the correct method of doing it.
I have never seen a situation that could not be better handled without putting a password on the file - using a password encoded container such as a zip file for example. |
