I'd like to see a small efficient OOo viewer suite.

Kind of like how MS Office has such tools. I'd like to see a set of tools BUILT IN to OOo. For example, in Powerpoint, there is an option to make a presentation CD, which produces a copy of the viewer, an optomized save of the presentation, and an autorun file to run it. What I'd REALLY like to see, though, is something a little more useful. MS's method is to toss in a viewer, required dlls, the presentation, and a batch file to run the presentation through the viewer. I'd like to see something a little less awkward. A viewer program with the presentation/document packed into the executable -- a self playing presentation/document in essense.

There probably are external viewers out there somewhere, but, it's not obvious where. Also, it needs to be relatively small to fit on a person's flash drive without having to remove half of your data just for the presentation/document. I suppose this makes it possible to use a floppy as well. Either way, it's obvious that you can't very well throw in a fully copy of OOo on your flash drive just for a presentation. This would tend to encourage people who might be willing to use OOo to use MS Office just because MSO is probably installed on the target machine when OOo doesn't enjoy such popularity (yet.)

I agree. The problem with making a packagable reader on CD is that it needs to be operating system independent as OOo works on various platforms. Not all operating systems support Windows autorun or all computers have the Flash player.

Definitely a good idea.

In the meantime, I would have you note that for PowerPoint, can save to a .pdf, and Adobe reader (as I just found out) will do a slideshow for you when you prss Ctrl+L (with a wonderful selection of one presentation mode).

More surprisingly, it will actually read your document out loud. I had no idea until now!

Here I've been reading my own documents!

However, when I had it read the slideshow I had prepared for my professor, it interpreted:

Quote:

A. Title item one
B. Title Item two
C. Title item three

as

Quote:

A.
Titile item one B.
Title item two C.
Title item three
