XML file will not open with Calc - Opens with Writer instead

I have a XML file (which I can open with Excel) that Calc will not open. If I try to open with Calc, Writer starts up and opens the file instead. Does anyone have any ideas why this happens ?

I have this same problem and I'm even dealing with a file I created using Calc.

Whenever I try and open it, the file opens in Writer as a plain text document.

I'm using OOo version 2.0 [680m1(Build8990)].

OOO2 recognises the HTML content and opens it with the appropriate (it thinks) module: Writer.

have you tried opening it with OOO1?
