Hi there,
just trying to pull my bibliography together. But it seems in the biblio database the fields are too short. Is there a way to make them longer? And why are they bound to certain size, anyway???
Thanks in advance,
Christian |

| Sorry for my misspelling in the former reply. I just wanted to say I could find anything useful in the help for my problem. |

Yes, you can change the database definition or switch to a completely different database. Can't speak for the German version but this is the English version
| Quote: | Changing the data source
Data Source
Select the data source for the bibliography database.
Only the data sources that are registered in OpenOffice.org are listed. To add a data source to the list, choose Tools – Data Sources.
Column Arrangement
Lets you map the column headings to data fields from a different data source. To define a different data source for your bibliography, click the Data Source button on the record Object Bar.
Select the data field that you want to map to the current Column name. To change the available data fields, select a different data source for your bibliography. |

Open a Writer doc, do F4 and open the biblio table. Now right click on the biblio table in the tree to the left and select Edit Table. In the resulting dialog select a field name and change its Length at the bottom.
At least I think this is what you are trying to do. |

I just ran in to this same issue with an online source I'm trying to cite. 50 chars is not enough for most urls, and instead of popping up an error message, OO just refused to paste my link.
I highly recommend upping the default size for some of those fields (especiallly URL)

|

Hi!
I had the same problem, and did as suggested in this thread. This alleviated the trouble of atually entering the full url into the bibliography database, BUT....
I then generate a bibliography using 'Insert/Indexes and Tables/Indexes and Tables...' in the menu
I Select 'Bibliography' as the table type in the ensuing dialog
I Press OK I want to change what fields from the database get displayed in my bibliography. I want to display URLs as well. So I:
Right-click the newly created table and select 'Edit Index/Table'
Click the 'Entries' tab and then select 'WWW Document' in the list
I Click the 'All' button....otherwise it doesn't seem to update....not sure why
I Then click 'OK' The format has changed fine to 'WWW Document', but the URL shows up too short still...If I'm not mistaken it's truncated at 50 chars. This happens in spite of the fact that I have edited my bibliography database URL field to be a length of 150. So the URL is in there...The table display just truncates it somehow
Could somebody please tell me why or help me on? I am out of ideas. Thanks _________________ Hans Czajkowski Jørgensen |
