I have an MS Access 2000 database that is extensive (meaning that it took a long time to build) which I would like to import into Base. However, as far as I can tell, the only part imported is the tables. None of the queries, forms, or reports are imported, and they are as significant an effort as the data itself. Is this correct? Is there no way to import these items with the database? |

The bad news:- In Base, forms and reports are Writer documents. There is currently no filter to convert the Access equivalents to Base (it is not a trivial task).
- Access uses VBA for code. These modules would have to be rewritten/translated.
- Does Access still use seperate macros? If so, these would have to be translated into StarBasic, Python, whatever - same as the code modules.
The easier path would be to build these from scratch in Base. However, you already know what you need, so it's not like you're developing them all over again.
The slightly better news:- Access uses it's own implementation of SQL for queries. If your queries are not too complex, you can copy and past the Access SQL, run the query and start fixing the bits that fall over.
