|
|
| When I installed OOo, I didn't have it change the file assosiations. Now, having tested it, I'd like to do so. So far, I've not seen any instructions on how to do so. What's the easiest way? I'm using Win98SE, and am comfortable with using Regedit (There's a shortcut to it on my desktop.) or nuking the associations in Windows Explorer if that's what's needed. I saw the first post in the forum, but I'm not sure, yet, if that's the best way to go. Thanks in advance for any advice. |

Do it manually by selecting Open With and selecting OOo. _________________ Arch Linux

You will have to create every type of Office file and then right click on each icon, select open with other, select OpenOffice, and check open all files of this type.
It will probably be easier to only do each file type as needed. _________________ Dennis Marks |

| That works, but in Win98, you have to go into the File Assosiations and nuke them first. Also, the OOo programs aren't in the list and you need to go to Other and browse. Not difiicult, just a few more steps for a novice to miss. Thanx! |

| Correction: it was a complete failure. OOo would try to open the file, but for some reason, if the path were "C:\MY Documents\Story.doc," it would report that it can't find "C:MY" then "Story.doc" couldn't be found either. Not only that, the .doc format didn't show up anymore under filetypes to be edited. This morning, I used Scanreg /restore to go back to yesterday morning's registry and undo the damage I'd done. If I'd been foolish enough to use Windows Me, even that wouldn't be possible, because NanoLimp had removed that. |
