Hello
i created in Win XP and OO 2.02 a .odt letter which I can't open in Linux
(Suse 10.0 and OO 2.???)

A bit poor description to remote fix your error...
What's the system reaction?
Where is the file stored?
What's the filename (spaces / special characters in it)?
Which version of OOo on Linux? (Help>Info about Ooo, while this window is open hold CTRL key and type S D T)

Hi
the version on windows i dont know now but i check back somethin
like 2.02 and the linuxversion as standard on suse 9.3
the file is named diverses.odt and is located in "eigene Dateien" personal files in english? the standard user directory in XP for saving things.
OO starts but simply doesn't show the file. I should mention that I access it
directly from suse through /Windows/C/....but it should be readable. On XP i open it without problems.
Also I got by email aonther odt file and with the exact same effect. Even that that file seemed to have been made on a linux and I opened that one in suse.
Yes...that has to be fixed immediately....

| The version you are using in Linux is a beta release, so any kind of misbehaviour is possible. Try to update to the latest official version (the versions packed by SuSE usually have problems...) |

The version in SUSE is not standard anything. It is not even a beta. It is an early developer build of OOo and I hate the distros for making prototypes available to ordinary users. They should flood the users with warnings, if they really have to include prototypes with their operating systems.
Your problem is that the file format was - as can be expected - changed during development. You should install the latest version of OOo 2.0.2 on you SuSe.

Some files created in older beta versions like that are unopenable under the final release versions. This is because the format was not finalised until about 1.9.91. If that does happen then you can extract the file (it is effectively a ZIP file) and get the contents out.
