I made an error with my login name in OpenOffice.org and can not see how to correct it.
Do I have to re register?

No you don't have to.
You are never obliged to register to OpenOffice.org. Even if you don't the program will work.
Just choose "Already registerd" (or similar frase) when you encounter the registration box again. ( Normally it shouldn't show anymore)
So, stop worrying about your login name and enjoy OOo. 
I know I (and a lot of others) do. 
Unless you mean this forum. Therefore you have to register to post messages.
It needs a working emailadress.
If you forgot or messed up your login name you should be able to register again,
provided you leave a working emailadress. Since you posted this it could be you mean this login name ?
