Try Draw. File > New > Drawing, invoking soffice -draw, sdraw or any link you have set up for it are all valid ways of getting to it.

I tried that but it dosnt give me an option on what new kind of document i want to make. It just automaticly pulls up the plain "draw" document.

That was all made with draw and clip-art from open clipart.org
I also made my own rack clipart that I am planning to upload.

Very cool man. I looked into it more and I found that it is best to just make or download some art and use that in Oo Draw. So what are some good sites for some free clip art? I take it open clipart.org is a site? Thanks very much for everyone's help.

http://www.openclipart.org/
sorry there wasn't meant to be a space...
unfortunatley all there art is in svg format, which all-be-it a good format is not yet supported natively in OOo, there is a plugin, but it is too much stuffing around, you can convert them to png or whatever but still too much hassle. I just right click the thumbnails (png) and save them Razz

I updated that network diag with a rack diag.

Churched,

Are you are looking for stencils of network equipment like VISIO has? I do not know of any that are available for draw, but they are easy to make using draw. You can draw what you like and then add it to the Gallery for future use. I work in telecommunications and I am able to make stencils for my specific equipment instead of having to use generic ones available with VISIO(You can also desigin custom stencils with VISIO).

Google summer of code proposal:

http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/SummerOfCode2006#Filter:_creating_a_Visio_filter_for_OOo_Draw

Filter: creating a Visio filter for OOo Draw

OOo currently lacks support for a Visio import filter, so that it would be good to have someone starting to write such a filter from scratch utilizing the OOo API for direct creation of the document or the ODF format as input format to be loaded by the OOo application. Although a full blown filter seems to be unrealistic to be written within the short timeframe, large parts of Visio documents should be able to be filtered correctly.

* required skills/knowledge: good C++ expertise, graphics programming
* recommended skills/knowledge: Visio file format / ODF or OOo API

I've been slowly migrating my Visio network diagrams to OO Draw. I created some network shapes (router, modem, printer, cell tower, etc.) which you can paste into a Draw file. See http://www.lautman.net/mark/coo/index.html

SPAM SPAM SPAM

Should this be called spam or not? It appears to be a commerical product and it is being pushed on a lot of threads.

OTOH it may just be a useful product.

Expensive, mind.
"Only 79 dollar now for promotion sales.".

Harvey's grammatical laws state that you may not use the word "only" in any sentence involving a sum of money. Sentences about salary excepted.
