I want to copy a cell with a formula and paste the value onto another sheet. There's no "paste value" in the Paste Special command. If I just do a paste, I get the error #Ref.

Crying or Very sad

Is there a way to paste values across sheets, or even on the same sheet?

Instead of Paste Special, Value in Excel, Paste Special, then deselect Paste All, deselect Formulas, and select Numbers.

Could this become a FAQ somewhere, I had this exact question and had a heck of a time finding the answer.

Step 1: Copy the value
Step 2: Select Paste Special
Step 3: In the dialog box which pops up:
Uncheck "Paste All"
Uncheck "Formulas"
Check "Numbers"
Click OK

Don't forget to change back to "Paste All" after doing this or much confusion will result.

If you do that often, it would be helpful to record a macro pasting the usual details and attach it to a button in your toolbar. The macro is best placed in the "Standard" library.

Secondary tip: use the Insert key to access the Paste Special function. And it will remember the changes made for the duration of the session. Next time OOo is opened it will default to All again.
