Imagine a simple Calc database to track multiple projects (in my case, freelance writing): priority, date, client, project, invoicing details, etc.
Then imagine yourself getting tired of scanning Calc for the high-priority-du-jour task, then going to Windows Explorer* to find the folder of background materials for that task.
It finally occurred to me to add a new column, named "Here" (short for "Here are the PDFs, documents, presentations, text files, images and other stuff you need for this project").
"Here" then gets a hyperlink -- Insert > Hyperlink > Internet > Web -- containing the path to the folder.
A single click on the chosen line item's "Here" opens the appropriate Explorer folder.
Saves time, saves going back and forth between Calc and Explorer...
