Hello, im new here and my problem is, that i have documents on a server and canīt open them with oo2.01 by doublecklicking on the file; when i start the program first (writer or calc) and then i open the file - then it works, also when i copy the file first to the desktop it works by doubleclicking, when itīs only a shortcut to the network file - it does NOT work. I suggest it is a bug ! MS Office was never installed on the machine - System is XP-Prof. - all MS-Patches are installed

Is there a workaround available ??
Thanks in Advance !

Greetings Axel

eg: I just realized it is not only a .doc or .xls Problem it also appears when the network file is an oo-Type extension as .ods !

Are there underscores in the full path (which includes the server name and share)? Are you using UNC paths or mapped drives?

Try using mapped drives and no undescores.

We have the same problem. It's about standard UNC path.

Jesus, what a ridiculous idea... no, we want UNC, not mapping. And it'd be the biggets joke if you're seriously saying it... if such a lame, huge bug like this made it into the final release then OO has zero place under the Sun. This is the most basic stuff, there's no way OO can ever be considered seriously if this bug still exists.

I'm encountering the same problem as described above.
I wondered if a workaround is already created in the meantime.

There is one underscore in my network-addres, but I don't know how i can change it to a mapped drive. (or what that exactly means Embarassed )

thanx in advance

If we try to open an OpenOffice file on an OS X server, it fails with the message, "General input/output error while accessing /Volumes/Administration/filename.odt.

There are no underscores or any strange characters in the path or filename.

The problem occurs in both Panther and Tiger servers.

Any help would we greatly apprecialted.

I should have added that this problem is with OpenOffice 2 only.

The same file opens fine with Open Office 1.1

I also get the same thing - underscores don't make a difference.

I'm running 10.4.5 - openoffice 2.0

It occurs after I mount a samba drive to a linux server and try and open directly from there. File permissions are fine, no one else accessing the file etc. Can read/write other files of different types.

Happy to provide any other help
