OO2.02 on Ubuntu Dapper.
Writer ToC sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Within a single file, the ToC works for a while, and without my doing anything particularly to the file... suddenly it shows no contents entries.

I have also noticed occasionally the files being saved not as DOC files but as RTF files.

I hate to admit it, but I almost always save in DOC format. My collaborators and publishers are in the dark ages, or their employers pay for their Office productivity suite, so they are all over in the DOC world. They require TIF files for all graphics.. This in itself is odd.

Would I be better off working in ODT? and then only at moments when I must share with somebody... produce the DOC formatted files? I thought of that all on my own, but I can see a lot of versioning problems appearing, as I send chapters at intervals to be "ok"ed.

PS I know Dapper is in development beta, but breezy had the same issues in re: OO2
