Direct export to calc for J2EE application

hi all, the web application (J2EE) that i am working on needs to export some data to calc on IE browser. (Previously the results are exported to excel). Even though i have set the content type to calc, on the JSP, it still opens up/save as in Writer format.
Is there any way to enable direct export to calc or IE does not support calc? Thanks
