How can I get Writer to treat html links (i.e. "http://www.someplace.com/content/stuff") as ordinary text? Against my preference, I am constrained to use XP doc files. OOo 1.1.2 on Debian Sarge.
Thanks for any help.

For enabling/disabling hyperlinks. If you look down at the status bar at the bottom of your window, one of the subwindows has the text "HYP" in it. By clicking on it, it toggles between HYP and SEL.
HYP means hyperlinks are active. SEL means they are not (presumably it means you can SELect them with you mouse without activating them). |

Thanks, but you answered the question I asked not the one I was trying to ask:
I need to have "http://site/path/name" just treated like ordinary text--not underlined nor highlighted in blue. Can that be done?

| Select it and do Format > Default Format (Ctrl + Shift + Space is the shortcut). This will remove the hyperlink which is what I think you want to do. |

Thanks, that appears to do what I needed. And I see how it makes sense interface-wise but it wasn't intuitive to a "vi" user.
