|
|
Hi all
This has probably been asked before but I couldn't find a suitable thread.
When copying a sheet to do a similar calculation, I design steel and timber beams using standard design codes, how does one copy the print range with the sheet?
Every time I do a copy the new sheet has to have its print range defined and that can be fiddly because I have a lot of very narrow columns, for things like Greek maths symbols and single letter codes.
It can be frustrating with a 20 or so beam structure where each can depend on the last.
Thank you in advance. |

Windows? Try "Save As", and use another file name to create a new similar file.

Insert >Sheet from file may have the results you want. You could also consider creating a template - File >Templates >Save-Organise. _________________ search forum by month |

Hi
Thanks for the responses, but perhaps I didn't make the question clear.
It's to do with copying within a file - sheet tab 1 copied to make sheet tab 2 etc. and preserving the print range as well. Not copying to a new file.

The print range is not copied with your sheet. David and norathon provided two workarounds for this matter of fact.
Let me show a third one, which makes it easier to assign any predefined print ranges to any sheet.
Select the print range in question and call Insert>Names (Ctrl+F3)
In the name-box type some name like "print1" or something more descriptive like "account_report" (no spaces allowed).
At the bottom you see the address of your selection eg. "$Account.$A$1:$F$123
Change this address to $A$1:$F$123 (remov sheet name).
Hit "more options" and flag this named range as print range.
Additionally you may assign a name like "repeat_row_print1" to $A$1:$F$1 and flag this named range as repeat row.
Additionally you may assign a name like "repeat_col_print1" to $A$1:$A$123 and flag this named range as repeat column.
Do the same with any range which may be a candidate for future prints. Remove the sheet name if you most probaly want to use the named print range with more than one sheet.
This customization has to be done once for ever and you may create a new template from this file in order to use the same setup with similar documents to come.
Until now we did not set up actual print ranges. We flagged some ranges as print range candidates.
Copy your sheet or select any other sheet which needs adjustment.
A. Just assign print range without repeat row/col:
Type or select "print1" from the name list and call Format>Print_Ranges>Assign
B. Assign print range with repeat row/col:
Type or select "print1" from the name list and call Format>Print_Ranges>Edit
In the list boxes at the left side of the dialog you have all named ranges you have flagged as print range, repeat-row or repeat-column. Choose any combination you like.
This allows quick recombination of sheets with different print/repeat ranges in complex spreadsheets. Like many other OOo-features you need to customize it once before using it frequently and in the most flexible way.
Another custumization could be: Assign some keboard-shortcut or toolbar-button to command Format>PrintRanges>Edit.
Hope this helps _________________ Rest in peace, oooforum.org

Ignore this it is just another bookmark entry so this thread can be found later. Copy print range into new sheet. XXXXXXXXXXXX _________________ One of these days I'm gonna stop procrastinating. |
