I can copy a screen by ALT/PrintScreen, and copy to OO or Wordpad. However I can not copy to this forum.
How can I do that?
Is there any other method of doing screenshots?
Thanks

Tony, thanks for reply.
I do not understand "Try using when posting."
I saved a screen shot to Text Document. (ALT/PrintScreen)
Tried right clicking it and that gives me a window with several items including IMAGE MAP, clicking that gives me another copy of my screen shot, but I don't have the least idea what to do with that, if that is even what I am supposed to do....???
Click COPY, but it will not give me a PASTE option in this window that I am writing in.
Appreciate step by step if you don't mind.
Thanks

You can't just paste an image here. Instead, you need to have webspace somewhere, and upload your image to that site. For example, I have a site with 300MB of space, and my own domain, maxqnz.com. So, when I take a screenshot, I upload that picture to my site, and then put in the link, either [ url ]blah.jpg [ / url ] if I just want to link to it, or [ img ] blah.jpg [/ img ] if I want the picture inserted here. Has that helped clarify it a bit? _________________ Noho ora mai, ka kite ano.

Thanks Max,
I guess I can not post screen shots here, as I don't have my own domain.
Thanks for help.

After you make the screenshot. Then you need to save it as an image file. Since this is an OOo forum, you should paste your file into OOo Draw. Then with the image selected, go to File | Export. Export your file as a .gif (or .png) for this type of image. Different kinds of images work better in different formats. But just do a .gif or .png for this.
I would recommend scaling the picture down. I guess you can do this through OOo Draw. But since I have CorelDraw, I used that to make the image smaller. Then upload the image to a web server.
After the image is up somewhere you need to type (into your post):
| Code: | | |
That should do it.
Here is my test:

edit: it seems we all posted about the same time. So I will leave mine in just because. |

bent, if you have an internet service provider, chances are you have webspace available that you just haven't used yet. you'd have to either use their file transfer mechanism to upload your screenshot file to your subdirectory and then post the url reference here so the board can copy it over, or download some free ftp program to use to upload it there. typically your site address is something like http://netservicesareus.net/~johndoe (fictitious, don't click it).
even webmail providers commonly do this; yahoo/geocities will let you set up a free webpage too, you could store it there. their interface is not hiccup free i noticed, but you can fiddle around to get there sideways if it misbehaves. _________________ eat dessert first: life is uncertain |

| I agree - it is always useful to have a bit of free webspace for presenting this or that. Unfortunately, the sites giving the most space away for free are Russian; i guess that limits the number of interested parties... |

Belated thanks to all who helped.
I don't know why, but some of my posts will not show one day and next time I get on this forum they will be there.
This particular thread was not visible to me until today. ( since my last entry here) Again I have no idea why.
Using EDIT/FIND IN PAGE, searching for "bent", it did not show up. ???
I posted on another thread that I did NOT know any other search method to search this forum. The flashlight icon at top right of screen gives me search the internet, using Netscape Search. Can't find that post now????? I know it is there, but for some reason it does not show on my computer.
Clicking HOME at top left of screen, gives me my home page., no search methods.
Thanks again for all your help.

The reason your posts dont show is because there is alot of posting going on each day here. You are looking at the front page that lists the 5 most recent posts. When anyone replies to a post, or posts a new thread, it goes to the front page and everything gets pushed down one. Since there is alot of posting (close to 100 new posts a day by my recollection) the front page changes quite often.
The best way to find a previous post is to know where you posted it then look in that section of the forum. You will find the sections listed in the middle of the main page (www.oooforum.org).
To do a search, use the little box that says "Search" about half way down the left side of the front page. You can click the "Advance Search" link just under the box to be able to search by your user name. Then you will find all of your posts. Read a little on the search page on how to do this. Using the search (flashlight) function from your browser will not search this forum only, but the whole Internet.
I hope this helps. And more importantly, I hope you find this post again so that you can learn how to find this post again.

Dang... your good!!! Found what I needed. Really appreciatet the help.
Wish I was in Cuernavaca. I would buy you a couple of frozen margaritas. Temphere in Oklahoma was 34 f this morning, with wind chill of 24 f. Wouldn't mind being in Acapulco or Barra de Navidad right now. Still low 40's at 2:30 p.m.

Bent, I see dpeach had already answered your question, but, had you looked in the "missing post" therad, you would have seen a screenshot of what he was talking about. Just a tip for future problems you may have - if you keep each issue in its own thread, it mkes responding with help much easier. _________________ Noho ora mai, ka kite ano.

I don't drink, therefore would not accept. But...the temps are great here. High was supposed to be 77 F here today. I guess it was about that. Acapulco on Monday when we were there was 86 with a heat index of 94F. It was great!
Too bad this 3 1/2 month dream is about to come to an end. Headed back home to Pensacola, Florida on Tuesday. Actually, it is not a bad thing. I would be happy to never see a taxi or public bus transportation again. Taxi and bus drivers are considered sub-human here. It only took a week or so of driving to understand why.
Glad I could help.

Thanks maxqnz,
I agree with you about staying with a thread. I couldn't find my original message or i would have gone back to it.
I NOW know how to find them and don't plan to jump around any more.
Thanks to you also for all the help.
