os is windows xp pro.

in downloading, the first thing i came across was a decision to get the version with bundled JRE or not.

i'm not clear on:

* what that is?
* how to check on which version i should download?
* is that option a question about what i have, or what i'd like to get in the download?

thanks

Some of the options for OO.o require a Java Runtime Environment (JRE). If you don't know whether or not you have a working copy of the JRE on your computer get the version with the JRE. If you do have a JRE and don't know if you have a current version, get the version with the JRE. If you know what a JRE is and you know you have one and you know it is current, than you probably wouldn't be asking the question.

My recommendation would be to download the version with the JRE.

I other words, the download would include the JRE to install if you don't have one installed on your computer. It will ensure complete functionality of OO.o.
