I am trying to type Japanese on my Mac - no luck. I am using OS X 10.4. I have enabled Japanese input. I am able to type Japanese into other applications (web browser, etc), just fine. Asian text input has been enabled in OOo.
I typed an OOo document in Japanese on my Windows machine, but when I open it on my mac, the Japanese characters are rectangles. It seems like a font issue, both all other applications seem to work, so I am sure I have appropriate unicode fonts. Any ideas? Thanks. |

I have tried Fondu. I have tried FontBook. I have installed the latest OS X Port (RC 7). I was prompted to import system fonts - I clicked yes. Now my font list is larger than before, but it doesn't seem to list unicode fonts. I can't even seem to find the directory that OOO Mac port is reading the font list from. I find 4 Font directories on my system, and none of them are the ones being displayed in the list.
edit: after wasting 3 hours of time, I decided to download NeoOffice. In 30 seconds after downloading/installing, I was typing in Hiragana |
