|
|
- Open new spreadsheet
- Type "apple" in A1.
- Next type "Apple" with uppercase "A" in A2 and hit ENTER.
"Apple" automatically becomes "apple" and hitting CRTL+Z immediately doensn't fix it back to "Apple".
I went into the Autocorrect configuration dialog and the help on this feature, and can't find any item that describes this behavior so I can shut it off. |

Try Tools >Cell Contents >AutoInput. (De-select the horrible thing.) _________________ search forum by month |

This must be a bug. Turning off AutoInput did solve my problem. However, it also got rid of a feature that I do like. The two features seem to be very tightly related. That is, when I type in an entry that is similar to another column, it shows me a match by highlighting it, but it only uses that suggestion if I hit enter. Otherwise it lets me type in what I want.
(I'm not quite sure if I managed to adequately describe this autocomplete thing)
Anyway, thanks for the help. |

These AutoWhatever features cause no end of heartache. I've found people who have not come across the numbered bullet feature trying to use small Roman numerals (i, ii, iii, etc.) to number paragraphs only to be thwarted when the first one is capitalised. In desperation they turned to (a), (b), etc. and then (c) turned into the copyright sign. Fury was unbounded and the explanation didn't seem to help them.
I agree with noranthon and turn the damn things off. The time saved by having them is surely undone by the frustration of trying to sort out the messes they cause.
