I'm trying to talk to a Base form with a handheld barcode scanner. The scanner reads the barcode and sticks the number into the keyboard buffer, and follows it with (what I presume is) a carriage return. It works with UPS Worldship, IE, and Notepad... but not OpenOffice 2.0.2. Something eats the CR; neither Writer nor Base acknowledge it.
How do I want to approach this? Is there an OpenOffice preference that's dropping characters recieved too quickly that I could edit? (It gets all the order number right...) Could I write a macro and stick it in the form input field, to CR when a valid (legal) order number is entered? What would that macro involve?
EDIT: For clarity's sake, the scanner plug is inline with the keyboard port and the keyboard's plug, so far as the computer cares somebody's just typing very quickly. |
