hi, a newbird using Oo... so.. here it goes..
its regarding the "find" function, when i search 4 somethng, it only find downwards, if there is somethng i want is before the current cell, it will returned a "not found" message, and another "search frm the top?" message, then only i can find wat i'm looking 4..
which mean if i'm in cell 10, i can only find somethng bellow cell 10, if the thngy i want is at cell 1, i hav 2 go through the "not found" n "search frm the top" message only i can find it.. i got quite a no. of entry in the spreadsheet, its hard 2 remember all of them, wat it is or where it is...i feel tat its kinda troublesome if everytime i wanna search somethng i hav 2 go all ovr to the top of d sheet
is there anyway around this? or i just hav 2 blend in?
thanks!! |

The function seems to work for me.
Click on the button "More Options".
Check that the options describe what you want.
One option is "Search in" - you can select Formulas, Values, Notes.
Another is search direction - rows, columns.
My search found "alpha" in A1 although the cell pointer was in E20 when I used the function. _________________ search forum by month |

i still can find wat i'm looking 4, the prob is everytime when i wanna find somethng tat is b4 d cell pointer, i hav 2 do double work by telling Oo 2 look through the beginning of d sheet instead of like MS office, it will straight away loop back 2 the beginning of d sheet n search again automatically w/o pressing addtion "OK" |

Is that it? I thought you meant the search was not covering the whole sheet.
It is an inconvenience, I suppose, to be asked whether you want the search to resume at the start of the document.
If you feel strongly enough, register with OpenOffice and file an issue requesting an enhancement along the lines you suggest. _________________ search forum by month |

lets say u wanna search 4 a few items, everytime after u find, u hav 2 press Ctrl+home again n again 4 d next items since u dunno where d hack it is .. (tats y u need d find isnt it? ), or u can just press 'ok' twice 2 let it start frm beginning again.. in my opinion its a bit troublesome... n a bit slow if u r in a hurry.. if u know wat i mean.. |

I find that the quickest way to search is:
Use Ctrl-F, type the thing you're looking for, press Enter, if it says do you want to start at the beginning, press Enter again to do so. Your finger is already over the Enter button, so it's quick and easy.
This is a case where using the keyboard speeds up the process, and the mouse/trackpad slows me down. |
