I type in "2006-09-19"
IT COMES BACK AS "09/19/06"!
If i had wanted "09/19/06" I WOULD HAVE TYPED IT THAT WAY IN THE FIRST PLACE!
+ it's a stupid, dumb format: inside out significance, not even backward, like European. |

It's so frustrating when developers don't take account of one's personal expectations.
AFAIK, the only way to change the default date format is to change the locale.
What I've done is create a style called _Date as a child of the default format (F11, right-click Default, choose "New"). I've attached the style to the keyboard combination Ctrl+D (Tools >Customise : Keyboard).
You will assuage your frustration somewhat if you do something along those lines. _________________ search forum by month |

Icbacon,
have a look at my macro: ins_date/ins_time
Insert date or time, as text / string or field / value, in Writer / Calc, formatted to user needs ( ISO8601 format, adjustable).
Four macros in document's attached BASIC module, usable for keyboard shortcut or customized toolbar assignment.
