One peripheral I've been considering installing on my system is a "Label maker" (i.e. Seiko "Smart Labeler", Dymo "Label Writer") to directly create mailing labels from my letter documents. I know the driver software for these devices will DIRECTLY integrate with MSWord documents (.doc) where you highlight the return address and send it directly to the labeler (or something like that). Right now, I make my mailing labels in full sheets (14 or 30, depending on the label size) and they take up quite a bit of desk space (not to mention having to sometimes SCRAP a whole sheet if the "delivery party" changes their address - ala Credit card Companies). These "label maker" printers, OTOH, take up "no room at all" in comparison AND they can, if necessary, do "batch jobs" if I need more than one particular label (i.e. Return Address labels).
My question: has anyone tried using these devices with OOo Writer (.odt) documents? I know Writer falls a little short in handling delivery addresses (i.e. won't do Delivery Point Barcodes - I hope the Developers will eventually rectify this ), but it would be nice to know if these "label maker" units will otherwise integrate, etc. with OOo.
I look forward to your replies.
(Remember, Work Happy and always "think OOo"!) _________________ I'm making perfect sense - you're just not keeping up! |
