|
|
| Hi, I want to write twon independent long texts - one column for each. (I did not find any hints in the various documentations.) Does anyone know if this is possible - and the solution? |

| I think a two-column table will do what you want. |

| I think this does not work, since I need moe than one page. In each column the text should flow from one page to the next page. |

Which version of Writer are you using. Text Flow across pages is available in Oo 2.0 onwards from the Table Properties, Text Flow tab. _________________ Fonts * Opera * Oo Tips * FAQ * New Forum

The actual settings on the Table > Table Properties > Text Flow tab are:
[x] Allow table to split across pages and columns
___[x] Allow row to break across pages and columns
The first allows the table to flow across page boundaries; the second allows a single row of the table to flow over page boundaries.
Both need to be checked (but I thought that was the default). You need OOo 2.0 or newer, as Bhikkhu Pesala said. |

| But my problem is the following: In WRITER I want to write 2 separate continuous texts in 2 independent columns (e. g. one column with english text, the other with its german translation). (a table can be devided from row to row, not within a single row) |

If you want simple Parallel Columns then use a table with a single row that breaks across pages.
If you want Parallel Columns with Block Protect, to keep related paragraphs together, then use a table with multiple rows, and also allow rows to break across pages. Type one or more paragraphs in each cell, with the translation of those paragraphs in the adjacent column. _________________ Fonts * Opera * Oo Tips * FAQ * New Forum
