|
|
I recently installed OO on my Windows XP computer. I have multiple user profiles. I have no problem starting up OO or opening files when I log in under my profile but my wife cannot start OO under her profile despite the fact that it is listed in the program list. Even Whether I try to start OOwriter first or select a file and then try to open it with OOwriter....it just won't start up. The OO faq site gives the following instructions:
<How can I install OpenOffice so that it can be used by multiple users on the same machine ?
Use the multiuser installation mechanism i.e. as administrator call the setup program with the “-net” parameter e.g. “./setup -net”.
Then each user when they first run the application will be asked for some information. Only per user configuration files will be kept in a directory specific to each user.>
Being not overly computer savy can someone give me more detailed instructions as to how to fix this access problem. This is not a good problem to have with a wife that has already given my a very hard time about using something other than MS Office.

Those instructions are out of date too, another problem. The -net install is effectively done automatically for all platforms.
If other users have the icons, what doesn't work? If you go to the OOo program directory and manually try to run OOo what happens? _________________ Arch Linux

I remember having seen an option during installation that gave you the choice to install
for all users or just myself.
Could it be that you checked the wrong box ?
If you didn't remove the Installation Folder on the Desktop you can try to do the setup again.
The above mentioned option is in the window of the installer where you have to enter your name _________________ DiGro
