I clean installed 2.0.4 on a Windows XP Pro system.

While I appreciate the new pdf capabilities, I'm frustrated at not being to get an accurate word count. The document has been saved to file, and despite paragraphs in the document, it's insisting that there is only 1 paragraph with 0 words and 0 characters, but 228 lines. Clicking on "update" does not work.

Is there a solution to this problem?

Edit: Another oddity. It was created 10/22/2006, which is correct. Modification date is also correct. However, total editing time is 00:00:00, which is incorrect and the last printed date was: 01/01/2113, 00:00:00. It also insists there is just one page, when there is 7.

Looks like something is seriously broken.

Unless others can reproduce the problem, it is not possible to do anything about it. It works fine for me, also 2.0.4, but on Windows ME. If you search Bugs and Issues you will see that others who have already reported a similar problem. Perhaps yours can also be resolved in the same way. Looks like it is fixed in Oo 2.1

Meanwhile, try select all and word count for a work-around.

The Word Count function works fine when I did what you suggested. Thanks for the help there. I have no idea why the Documents Property function is broken here.

Edit: I read the link and did what it suggested. Seems to work. Odd, tho'. It wasn't an imported document.

word count won't work on a saved document that hasn't been modifiedl, but if I modify it, it works fine -
it counts the footnotes along with the body of the text -
