|
|
Hello,
I have a document with 4 figures. The first figure is section 1 and the other three are in section 3.
What I would like is to have the first figure numbered "Figure 1" and the second three figures numbered "Figure 2.a", "Figure 2.b", and "Figure 2.c".
If I set the level, then I am getting the section number (i.e., "Figure 1.a", "Figure 3.a", "Figure 3.b", and "Figure 3.c"), which is not what I want. Of course, I could just number them consecutively, but the last three figures do connotate sub-figures, so it would be better to number them that way.
Is there any way to do what I want?
Thanks. |

| One number range takes one formatting throughout the document. Your workaround will be to use two separate number ranges. To change the starting number, if needed, type a value in the Value fields on the Variables tab in teh Insert Field dialog. You can also double-click a field to change it: for instance, change "Drawing+1" to "5" if you want a number to start with 5. |

| Probably best to manually number them. Otherwise next time you have another set of subfigures you'll need to create a completely new number range. I've found this the easiest solution. |

| Manual numbering the easiesst solution? Maybe, if you have but four figures. For consistency, you should strive towards having not too many differing numbering formats in one document. |
