|

In order to write macros for OOo Calc, a list of available functions (and descriptions) is required. The basic functions, such as the math and text manipulation functions are well described in the OOo Basic help in the Calc program. What is not there is a list of Calc-specific functions such as getcellrangebyname(). There are several very good user guides available on the internet that describe how to use a number of the more common functions, but not a comprehensive list of the functions. At least that I have been able to find.
Does anyone know where one can be found? |

What you need is "OpenOffice.org Macros Explained" by Andrew Pitonyak, Hentzenwerke, 2004, ISBN 1930919514. A variation of that book is available online, I think, though I can't find the link right now. I'll come back and edit this if I find it.
Andrew reads the forums, so he may see this note and give you the best answer. _________________ Regards, Jean Hollis Weber

OK, I'm whining now, I know, but this is basic information that should be included in the Calc program's help. It should not be necessary to buy a book to find it.
Which doesn't mean I won't buy the book if that's the only way. |

You definitely do NOT need to buy a book to get the info you want. It may not be in the help, but it's available free on the OOo website somewhere. I don't remember where, because I don't do macros, and because I'm more book-oriented than online-oriented. Also, Andrew's book has lots of other "value added" stuff in addition to the tables. _________________ Regards, Jean Hollis Weber

I'm with you on the reference book preference, and don't follow the argument against it. It's there, it's handy, it's easier on the eyes, it's downright easier...... . If an online source was the only option available, I'd still print it out ...how many pages did you say?
