You should be able to open OpenOffice.org and open MS Word docs from within the application.
You could also do a repair on the OO.o install (Start - Settings - Control Panel - Add REmove programs ) and make sure the check marks for opening MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Powerpoint documents with OO.o are checked.
Let us know if this is what you are looking for. _________________ Ron from Iowa, USA |

When I try.
I open up open office writer, and select to open the document. It brings up a box titled filter selection. Microsoft office isn't listed, and any of the options that I've tried hasn't worked.
I have made sure the check marks for ms work, ms excel, and ms powerpoint were checked.
What else can I do? |

wps is the extension from Microsoft Works. Even Microsoft Office does not handle this format readily.
Your best bet is to open the files in Works again and resave in rtf format.
This is a regular request on this forum and elsewhere. |

MS Works is not listed there. It is MS Word _________________ DiGro

Sorry, missed that part about the extension.
Yep, Microsoft really is good at messing things up with the MS Works format. Like stated above, the MS Works format is questionable on ANYTHING other than the version of MS Works it was created on.
I would agree, you will have to reopen and save into something like RTF or MS Word to be able to migrate to OO.o. _________________ Ron from Iowa, USA |
