Problem- "Installation package could not be opened"

Hi, i have downloaded Open Office 2.1 (have used it many times before) and tried to install it, it unpacks all the files and then gives me the "This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact blablabla...

I have tried the Microsoft knowledge base but none of the solutions worked. I really have no clue on what to do now Sad

My system is fully updated, Windows XP sp2. Are there any solutions?

it is definitely not a currupt download. The same error occured when I tried to install quicktime. Mabey somethings gone wrong within windows :/

It may be related to the msi installer that could be corrupted. Search the forum about that. There are some threads about that with different solutions.

it probably is a Windows failure. Mostly it is related to the MSI-installer or .NET Framework.

Try to run OpenOffice.org21.msi from the Installation folder.

If that doesn't work try Setup.exe in that same folder (This will give you the opportunity to repair or re-install OOo)

If that doesn't work it is most surely a Windows-problem.
