On word I had a button that allowed me to convert text into - lowercase-UPPERCASE-Sentence Case.
Is there such a facility in Writer?

hi

no, the sentence capital as you call it is not there. look for it in Tools - AutoCorrect/AutoFormat - Options tab. there you will be able to turn it on or off.

I don't know if these macros have Sentence Case conversions...
http://www.ooomacros.org/files.php?type=macro#AndrewBrownsMacros
...as I haven't installed myself yet, but it mentions changing case so maybe?

Just thought it was worth mentioning Smile

There is a cool case changing macro, the link is, if I can remember it right, ftp://ftp.chg.ru/.5/sourceforge/ooodocs/biggestcasechange.zip. Or try to search.

Thanks ursacol02,

however it only seems to work on stuff as I type it in.
My wish-we-had-a-clue "online" bank doesnt offer CSV downloads so I copy and paste and fiddle till I get a CSV which I can use. but it is all in CAPITALS and it looks crap, and I cant use the text part for my tax return without then re-typing, and who wants to do that!

I would like to find something that allows me to paste stuff in and then improve the look of it.

I believe that Andrew Brown's macros, which was posted above by 8daysaweek would do what you want.

One of the macros, as I recall, will change text to UPPER, then to lower, then to Mixed case, then to UPPER case again, and so on.

What Writer *does* have and which in many cases in wordprocessing is a better solution than case conversion, is case formatting! Format Font Effect; and the choices are Capitals, Lowercase, Title and Small Capitals.

Rolling Eyes

Seriously, version 3.3 will come with more options for case switching. About time, too. Wink

Excellent -- delighted to hear that news! I've missed "Title Case" as well.
