When I use pdf export in OOo writer, all my non-english letters become squares in target pdf. If we look at the fonts section (with Adobe Acrobat Reader), there are some fonts, but I think not enough.
Can I add some fonts in pdf export process? |

We discussed whether OOo embeds fonts in the PDF files or not. I guess it does, but I am not sure. One thing is certain, I never found anywhere to set PDF export options.

Hi Curtz
To set pdf export you need to use the file\export as pdf option. Curiously you then need to give it the file name and then you get the settings. These settings then stick so when you next hit the export as pdf button the settings are the same.
Hope this helps.

| My experiences with the PDF export in 1.1 were fairly frustrating. It does not appear to have font embedding for at least 2 of the 4 fonts I used in my document. After exporting to PDF they changed to MS Seriff. Also, in 1.02 I can print to the Acrobat PDF distiller without any problem and end up with a perfect pdf, but in 1.1beta, that appears to have been broken, and it will crash OOo whenever I try it. For the pdf writer in OOo to be realistically useable, it needs to give access to fine tuneable options like those in the regular acrobat distiller, and it needs to be able to embed fonts better than it does now. IMHO. |

What fonts were they originally? Did you have to check them in Distiller?
I think it is fair to say that the export options are fairly basic, focusing primarily on resolution. It ain't perfect I know, but I did a test document on my Windows partition using some wacky fonts and it looked just the same in Linux. |

Thanks, I knew this, but I hoped that further options could be found in Tools -> Options.

Sadly not, but maybe a future feature.
The pdf feature in OOo643c wasn't as good as in the current beta (got justified text as left-aligned) so I was happy with the improvement.
What additional features do you think are needed here?

Ondine and auriol fonts.
I did not have to do anything special in distiller. I have the embed all fonts option turned on in my job settings, and that seems to do the trick. |

The OOo pdf export does seem to embed the fonts (at least that's what Acrobat Reader is telling me)and they are the same font as in the original so I'm puzzled as to why there is a font change in your case.
All I can say is it seems to work OK for me

Not sure what help this will be in figuring anything out, but here is a link to a small test showing the behavior I am seeing. The zip file includes the original ooo doc, the pdf export pdf, and the distiller printed pdf. It's about 12k in size.

as for pdf features, I want to get pdf just as it shown in my OOO window (if my "edit file" button unset).
And as for other usefull features, maybe it is possible to insert as graphics (maybe object) ps (postscript) or other modern (svg) files.

it is strange, but when I open eps file in Draw, it is seen correctly. If I export as bmp, everything is okay, but when wmf or emf export executed, there is nothing (white paper) in the target file.

Really? Good for you, but we are in fact discussing what can be done for the ones who HAVE problems. If everyone with no problems at all posted that "I have no problems" then this forum would grow and grow... |
