My PDF exporting stopped working -- it now gives me a jumble of oriental characters. Any ideas of how to trouble shoot this?

sorry, found my mistake -- OO can't read PDF, and I was opening it in OO; when I get out of OO, then when I click on the exported PDF file, of course, it works (with PDF reader).
