URL recognition

Okay, here's a new twist - I set up a "database" in Calc and one field is for URLs. However, while I'm entering data, it's a nuisance to have the URL recognition on because I'm constantly being bounced out to a website if I accidentally click on a URL address.

So, I went into Autocorrect and unchecked the URL recognition box. Now that data entry is done and I actually WANT to use the URLs, I went back in and checked the box. This, however, does not "activate" any URLs that I have already entered.

Is it supposed to work that way, or is there something else I'm overlooking?

The problem is that the text and the hyperlink are two separate things. I you have recognition on the hyperlink is created for you as well as the string being entered into the cell. If you turn recognition on/off OOo does not rush around adding/deleting hyperlinks.

You could extend that to search for strings that are valid url and create hyperlinks for them but you would have to be able to decide what is/is not a valid url. converttourl does not validate the string for you.
