| Is there a set of Usenet Newsgroups that mirrors this forum? I prefer that interface if it is available... please advise! |

No.
There are standard mailing lists available through www.openoffice.org, and some of these are gatewayed as newsgroups through news.gmane.org. I think there's at least one other way to access the lists, although I can't think of it right off. Search this forum and you should find more info.
I am curious what it is you prefer about a mailing list over a web forum. Would you care to elaborate a little? |

| I guess I am just more familiar with the interface, and like having my news reading open without needing to play log-in games through the web interface. It isn't a huge deal really, I guess just that I already subscribe to a number of news groups, and it makes the participation easier and more convenient for me -- everything has one interface with which I am very familiar. I don't mind this per se. Thanks. |

Ahh yes, Nabble is the other one I've heard mentioned here: http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?t=51512
I grew up with Usenet, and I don't mind it for low-traffic lists, but for the larger ones like the main OOo lists, I find it unpleasant if not unmanageable.
I wish we had the means to bring this forum up to speed--e.g. the Ubuntu forums look great from what (little) I've seen. |
