|
|
Hello,
In MS Office it is possible to insert a link to a file which appears as an icon and which is then opened by the associated application when double clicked.
Is there a way to do the same in OpenOffice.org?
I tried Insert > File; Insert > Object > OLE object playing a bit around with the parameters but I had no luck.
Interestingly, if I open a ppt presentation with such embedded object (say a writer file) it is correctly displayed as an icon and it works as expected when double clicked.
Even more interestingly, if I drag the file from the file explorer and Impress does not recognize the file format (e.g. a zip file) then it does exactly what I want i.e. it inserts the object as OLE object...
This would not be the first time that OOo can handle correctly functionalities provided by Power Point but not being able to do the same which is *really* strange!
Cheers,

I would insert a pic, then right click>Interaction and select for the Action at mouse click the entry Go to document and add the target in the field below.
You just have to find the right pic, if possible the icon for the type of document you want to link. _________________ Now on the EN user community forum |

Yes, in this case, there is still the screenshot of an icon if not available directly, there should be plenty on the web. Just don't save as jpg but png. _________________ Now on the EN user community forum |
