Write Crashing when I click Save

No warning, no nothing - just back to my desktop when I click it... It autosaves fine enough, but still, quite frustrating. I have changed the autosave to once a minute, but it's so ingrained in me to constantly hit ALT-F-S or click the button constantly that it's starting to get on my nerves.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated - Other than this small glitch, this software is by far the best thing I have ever downloaded. Asided from the flatulating nun movie - of course.

What OS ? What OOo version ? Drive on a network ?
Autosave does not actually save the file IIRC, just a temporary file in case of crash so you must save manually anyway.

Have you tried a repair ? This is not a correct behavior. You can also check the MD5 sum ? See here for the 2.2 : http://download.openoffice.org/2.2.0/md5sums.html.
