I'm using the latest version of OpenOffice on my WinVistaHP 'puter. My
"Writer" document has a table with 2 rows, 2 columns. I have no problem
flipping vertically an IMAGE in one of the cells, but I want to flip
vertically all the TEXT in one of the cells; how can I do that? (it is possible in WordPerfect)

Please always provide the version number. I can't assume that you actually do have the latest version. For example, version 2.2.0 was just recently released, and I have no way of knowing whether you were aware of that. (Happens all the time; users believe they have the latest version but they actually don't.) Also other people may be reading this after doing a forum search, but how will they know what version is current?

I'm not sure what you mean by flipping text vertically. Are you wanting the letters to appear upside down, or do you mean just changing the text direction?

For example, you could change the style Table Contents or use a different paragraph style, and on the Position tab rotate the text direction either 90 or 270 degrees... Or you could enable Asian language support to be able to write vertically. But I'm not sure whether either of these are what you're asking for.

Great!
Would you mind sharing what search term(s) you used? I might guess the solution has something to do with Fontwork and Format>Flip functions, because I believe the text needs to be put into graphical form before Writer can flip it upside down---but any tips you might offer here would be useful to other users searching the forum.

Happy to share. What I wanted to make was a document like a greeting card; you can see or download it at my site: http://www.sticksite.com/stickcard.odt
No problem turning the image over, with the "flip" function. The text was a bit more tricky.
I went to HELP and then searched for "rotate" and chose "text" and then followed the instructions there and they worked like a charm. Thanks for asking.
