I looked through the furums briefly but did not see anything related to this. I apologize if I missed it.
Can you somehow open .docx and the other files from Office 2007 with OpenOffice? |

The quick answer is... not yet, but they are working on it.
The longer answer is, Novell has a version of OpenOffice.org that has the ability to open .docx files, but my understanding is that particular version of OpenOffice.org is only available to Novell's customers (I may be wrong about that). I do believe they are planning on integrating that feature into the regular version of OpenOffice.org so everyone has access to it, but that hasn't happened yet.
Of course, .docx has only been out for 2 and a half months. OpenDocument, (OpenOffice.org's default format) has been out for nearly two years, and Microsoft Office still doesn't fully support it (there is a plugin available fthat will allow Word to open OpenDocument files, but I have not heard good things about it). _________________ Laugh at life or life will laugh at you. |

He is right. The filter can only be used with the OpenOffice.org 2.0.4, Novell Edition:

The fact that the Novell Edition can be downloaded for free makes no difference: the plug-in is a closed source program not available for "normal" users. |

| Thanks for the answer and clarifications. I figured it was not supported yet, but wasn't sure. I Googled it and found very little helpful info; figured someone here would know for sure. |
