|
|
I have (I believe sucessfully) installed the newest version of OpenOffice however, I am experiencing the same issue as with the last version. Every single time I click on the desktop icon to open the program it acts like I never installed the program. It basically starts "unpacking files" just like the first time I installed everything. This is really frustrating. HELP |

Have you read the thread linked above ? What happens if you run OOo from the shortcuts created in the Start menu ? _________________ Now on the EN user community forum |

It sounds like you are clicking on the installation file because that is what it would do and, as said above, OOo does not create any desktop icon unless it's the QuickStarter which is in the system tray.
I'm guessing you downloaded OOo to your desktop and did the initial installation from there. When the installation completed the installation file just remained on your desktop and you are mistaking for an application startup icon.
The thread Hagar pointed to will show you how to create a desktop icon or how to get the QuickStarter in the tray. |

| Thanks everybody for the help. This probably seemed so silly to you. I am not that great at computers; but your willingness to help is so much appreciated! |

Don't worry, you're not the first one in this forum to have done this mistake. Personally, I don't understand why this unzipped installation folder remains on the desktop. Why not deleting it afterwards since the main installer (.exe) has not been deleted yet (so you can run it again in case of problem).
Thanks to add '[Solved]' in your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed. _________________ Now on the EN user community forum |
