Editing in XLS format annoyances

While trying to work home with an Excel file I sometimes modify also at work, I've notices small annoyances for me and I was wondering if it is just me (not knowing how to configure OO Calc) or they were observed by somebody else too:

- If you select a number of cells in Excel and set a background color for them (as opposed to the default 'nothing'), the horizontal/vertical lines delimiting the cells are hidden, in OO Calc you still see them (unless you disable them altogether, but then you don't see them in 'normal' spreadsheets eighter).

- if the cell is formated in a specific way and you type or paste in the cell you would get the text in the cell formated according with the default format (if you type) or according with the format from wherever that text came from (if you paste). That is just fine. My beef is with what happen if you select the cell and then type or paste in the formula field ('Input Line') at the top of the spreadsheet. When you type or paste there the format should *not* change (and that is true in Excel, but not in OO).

- although OO Calc has no issue reading a password protected XLS file, for whatever reason it doesn't seem to support saving it like that back in an XLS format. As I was saying, I am moving the file back and forth between Excel (work) and OO (home) and I would have liked to password protect it both ways.
