I use 'cAos' Linux and it has compiled its kernel for i686, but the RPMs statie i586. When I attempt the "rpm -Uivh *rpm" I get error messages stating the RPMs were for a different architecture.
Does this mean I need to recompile my kernel and "backoff" the i686 support?

I download a tool called "rpm2tgz" and converted all the .rpms to .tar.gz. Extracted them and then moved the results to /opt. /usr had the JRE but OO didn't recognize it. So I went and installed a JRE separately, ran OO, and then adjusted the "Options" to point to the newly installed JRE.
OO seems to work, but I haven't pushed anything (i.e. complex formulas, formatting, macros, etc)
Any feedback as to the architecture issue would still be appreciated.

No, I have run OOo on some very strange kernel configurations and have never run into such problems. _________________ Arch Linux
