Ok maybe I am way too use to Microsoft Office because I can't for the life of me remove hyper links in OpenOffice. It is driving me crazy! In MSOffice it's as easy as right clicking. However, in OO the right click menu is stripped bare with VERY limited options.
How do I remove hyperlinks please... |

Select hyperlink, Format > Default or Shift+Ctrl+Spacebar.
You don't need to but you can disable hyperlinks while working on them by clicking HYP on the Status bar. |

And the long way around (just so you know where hyperlink properties are set and changed) is to select the hyperlink (drag the mouse over it) and click the hyperlink tool or choose Edit>Hyperlink. The Hyperlink Properties dialog shows you what kind of link it is (Internet, for example) and the target, as well as the text---so if you wanted to keep the link but change the text, this is where you can do that. _________________ Cheers!

Hover mouse pointer over hyperlink, right-click, choose Default Formatting. Not at all obvious -- took me a long time to discover this, because I was looking for "Remove Hyperlink" or something similar. _________________ Regards, Jean Hollis Weber

i really hope the command will be renamed for the next release since it's quite hard for most of users to find out how to remove a hyperlink (default formatting). and also i would appreciate not to have to mark all the hyperlink for removing it; it should be considered as one piece by right clicking on the mouse

You don't have to mark (highlight) the whole hyperlink. Just hover the mouse pointer over it and right-click. "Default formatting" will then apply to the whole hyperlink. _________________ Regards, Jean Hollis Weber

But this isn't a good solution (the "default formatting" thingy), because - what if you want to keep the format but just want to remove the hyperlink? It's not a good approach.
The best way I've found is to right-click on the hyperlink, choose "character", then the tab "hyperlink", then remove the text in "URL". It keeps the format and removes the hyperlink. |
